From Doubt to Light
---
Scene:
At quiet school courtyard. Two students sit under a tree, discussing. Pastor Akinyemi walks in slowly.
Tunde:
(shaking his head)
I still don’t believe everything in the Bible is true. Some of it just sounds… unrealistic.
Bola:
I’m not saying it’s all false, but… how can we be sure? There are too many doubts.
Pastor Akinyemi:
(smiling calmly)
Doubt is not your enemy… but staying in doubt is dangerous.
Tunde:
Sir, with all due respect, how do you expect us to believe stories we didn’t witness?
Pastor Akinyemi:
You believe history, don’t you? You believe in things you never saw—because there is evidence. The Bible is not just a storybook… it is a living truth.
Bola:
But sir… what if it’s been changed over time?
Pastor Akinyemi:
(steps closer, gently)
The Word of God says, “Heaven and earth shall pass away, but my words shall not pass away.” Truth does not expire. It endures.
Tunde:
But miracles? Do they still happen today?
Pastor Akinyemi:
(leans forward, voice firm)
Yes. But doubt blinds you from seeing them. Faith opens your eyes.
Bola:
So… you’re saying our doubt is the problem?
Pastor Akinyemi:
I’m saying your doubt is a door. You can either close it—or walk through it into understanding.
Tunde:
(slightly softened)
And how do we walk through?
Pastor Akinyemi:
By seeking truth sincerely. The Bible says, “Ask, and it shall be given you; seek, and you shall find.” God is not afraid of your questions—but He expects your heart to be open.
Bola:
(quietly)
What if we try… and still struggle?
Pastor Akinyemi:
Then you keep seeking. Faith grows, just like knowledge. But you must be willing to move from doubt… to discovery.
Tunde:
(looks at Bola, then back)
Maybe… we’ve been too quick to dismiss it.
Bola:
Yeah… maybe we should actually study it for ourselves.
Pastor Akinyemi:
(smiles warmly)
That is all God asks. Not blind belief—but willing hearts.
(Pause. The students nod slowly, deep in thought.)
Pastor Akinyemi:
Remember this: Doubt may ask questions… but truth always has answers.
Here’s James 1:6-7 from the Amplified Bible:
You must ask [for wisdom] in faith, without doubting [God’s willingness to help], for the one who doubts is like a billowing surge of the sea that is blown about and tossed by the wind. For such a person ought not to think or expect that he will receive anything [at all] from the Lord"
This passage is saying that faith without doubt is key when asking God for wisdom.
(Lights fade as the three walk off together, continuing their discussion.)
